Just thought I would throw this out there for any ideas. I've got a window (basement type) in the corner of the room where my HO layout is being built. I guess I could just cover it with the back board but was looking for some creative ideas. :fingers-crossed: Chuck
My Layout occupies two rooms...each with a window on the west side of the house. I used aluminized plastic and tacked it on the outside of the windows. It had been there for 5 years now, The material is or looks like aluninized bubble wrap and comes in large sheets. Check at a LOWES or Home Depot. Regards, Steve E.
I recently did something to a window that's facing west and contributing a lot to heat in the house - I bought some auto window tinting film, 95% density, and applied that. There's still enough going through to see outside, and no one can see in. It blocks enough light to reduce heating by quite a bit (it says it blocks 2/3 of the heat). The temperature is now 2 degrees cooler in that room, making it easier (and cheaper) to cool off the rest of the place.
If your going to cover a basement window just make sure it's NOT a fire escape window, SAFETY FIRST !!!!!!!!!!!
