    The Santa Fe sent their early model 1 and 1A as well as all their E1 units back to EMD who rebuilt them to E8Ms. The group was renumbered 80-87 (cab units) and 80A-84A (boosters).

    ACL E-3 (rebuilt to an E-6) 501 to the left of the 4449 lives on at the North Carolina Transportaion Museum in Spencer, operative and kept safely indoors.
