The WILLAMETTE SHORE TROLLEY still shows that the line is suspended but to open after trestle work into late August. Anyone have any new information about the opening up of the line?

Though I am a past volunteer (youngest motorman around in 1992 and 1993) I only get occasional news now. My grandpa is also an ex-volunteer. I will ask him if he knows anything.

Keep in mind that the website tends to lag a little bit, like in any volunteer operation. The guy in charge of the web may not have gotten any updates, yet, or may have not yet had the chance to update the website.

I would call (503) 697-7436 to get the latest. That's their reservations and information number.

I am surprised about the trestle work. The track on the trestles was far and away some of the best track on the whole line 16 years ago. Some of the other track was really marginal, but the trestles were smooth as glass.

Thanks for the number. I called and got a short machine message about December runs then someone picked up phone and explained maybe late November...trestle work was the word. Thanks again.

If they are anything like when I was there, they are made up of several dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers operating on a shoe-string. Pretty much all the money that is made on the excursions goes to fuel (for the generator), insurance, maintenance, upkeep of the station in Lake Oswego, etc.
