While working to restore the SD45 section on my website, Southern Pacific Rio Grande Connection I ran across two SD45s both numbered as 9109. One in SP and one in SSW. From what research I can do, there shouldn't be a 9109 in SSW. Can someone tell me the story behind this?

The story about 9109 is kinda funny. Its a mistake. She was delivered as SP 9109 in 1969. Sometime in 70`s she was repainted, after a wreck etc. The shop crew painted her in Cotton Belt lettering as a mistake. Later on she was painted again with the correct SP lettering. Not to confuse things even more, but 9109 was also used on a KM ML4000!

Was the wreck repainting done in Pine Bluff?
