    ... and East Cleveland generally.

I am probably visiting this place for work in the near future (next Monday for a week or two). If I get any daylight free-time, are there any 'must-do' railfan spots I could/should visit?

East Cleveland area? Take a bullet-proof vest...

Aww, c'mon Brian. It's not that bad!
Don't get me wrong. I mean don't leave your keys in your car or anything like that. :(

Collinwood Yard is just west of Wickliffe. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is not the best and there really is not a good place to railfan in that area anyway.

The east-west main line of CSX and Norfolk Southern run all along the Lake Erie shoreline.

Mike, there are a couple spots east of Wickliffe where I go that are very safe. The best place in the Cleveland area is Berea which is on the west side of Cleveland, very close to Hopkins Airport.

I live about 10 minutes east of Wickliffe in Mentor. If you want a "guide" of sorts, I would be more than happy to take you around if you are interested pretty much anytime next week except Friday.

On Friday 10/15, I leave for Oregon on my long awaited Amtrak trip!

    Sorry can't help you Mike....
Been out of that area too long.

But Brian and Herman know their stuff.
    Great people, too.

Thanks for the tips guys. Unfortunately (or maybe not as I don't have that kind of vest in the closet [IMG] ) the trip got cancelled, so maybe another time.

I may be going to Vasteras in Sweden instead. I'm not really that interested in their trains, but I might see the Northern Lights there which would be some compensation.

If you get a chance to come out west towards Colorado, I'll be a railfan guide for the Moffat Route, and parts of Sherman Hill! Have fun on your trip!

I hope you mean that Hemi. I've got a relative in Colorado. We've been thinking about visiting them in the next year or two [IMG]
