Ok, yes, I am the new guy who keeps droning on about the lack of NYC steam in N scale.

    lol

What I want to know is who is with me for Kato producing a NYC Hudson pulling a string of NYC heavyweights, or smooth sided passenger cars?

    MMMMM :)

Make the Empire State Express, or how about the Pacemaker, Wolverine, or how about a non name train. Like a heavyweight consist pulled by a regular J1e, J3a Hudson, or even a Mohawk. I like the sounds of that.

Hopefully, with Kato beginning to get into more N scale steam, this will be the start of more Steam/passenger offerings from them.

    Whos with me?

The idea of a 20th Century Limited has been tossed around quite a bit. It will have to be a train with wide appeal and the 20th Century would fit the bill.

Well there is always the NYC Empire State Express. Although the NYC only had 2 streamlined that way.

I am hoping for a 20th Century but with a non streamlined Hudson (a standin if you please) so I can buy a crapload of the Hudsons and renumber them.

And yeah, when I say crapload, Im talking buying at least 10 or 20 of them. :D

But I guess I could get 10 of the Dreyfuss sets. All different numbers. Jeesh, then I would have the whole fleet of them.

My problem is too much money and not enough correct locomotives. Of course, this is coming from an person who used to spend 1k on 1 steam locomotive in O gauge. And yes, I had a nice fleet then too.

Count me in for a J1-E and heavyweights. Next year after the Daylights are out.

Sure... the more model railroad products that Kato produces... the less likely another inferior manufacturer will do them. ;)

But...I'm just another lowly follower in the Kingdom of Kato. If Kato made coffee... I'd probably drink it.

I see a TCL from Kato at some point, but not anytime soon. Morning Daylight in the new year. Then the Broadway Limited, hopefully by the end of the year. Leon has said he would like to bring a new passenger train every year. So after the Broadway, they will most likely go back to the west and produce another western train. El Capitan? Olympian Hiawatha? NCL? What has the most appeal? They are all good, but remember, Kato loves Santa Fe. After that, maybe another eastern train. That could be the TCL. You are looking at 2 yrs out or so at least. But thats not too bad, considering how long we wait for products that are announced, and never produced.

Keep suggesting it to Kato. They might just do it. For all the eastern modelers: if you want another eastern train after the Broadway, make the Broadway an unabashed success. Do that, and make Kato take notice of how strong the eastern demand is for product.

    No NYC for me.

Check the signature line for the road and loco type that I want. Any of the three classes will do. Or all three. [IMG]

I would love to see more eastern road passenger trains. As I see it, too many have been made for western roads.

The Broadway limited should be a big success, since there are many PRR fans.

I am hoping that when a NYC one is made, that all the NYC fans come out of the wood work and gobble them up. Show the manufacturers that we NYC groupies are out here, waiting for the good stuff.

Well if they were to do one, I am sure that a streamlined Dreyfuss is what they would make. That would be nice too.

I am still hoping for a Unshrouded Hudson pulling Heavyweights. That way, you can get 100 of them and renumber. :)

    That would rock.

Holy ¤¤¤¤ that ROCKS!!!!!! I didnt even know that existed.

Looks like Daddy knows what he is getting himself when he gets home.

(I also lucked out and found a somewhat local mom and pop hobby shop that has tons of NYC key/PRB and Halmark Brass. :))

    Empire State Express

They finally released it! I knew these were coming, but hadn't heard they were available. This is great news!
I would also like to see:
J-1e (no shroud) with heavyweights (generic train)
J-1e Commodore Vanderbilt shroud and train
    J-3a Dreyfuss shrouded with 1940 20th Century
Mercury (retro style shrouded Pacific) with James Whitcomb Riley (orange stripe)
    S-1b Niagara with 1946 Pacemaker

Hunter, I don't model, but would sure buy a NYC N scale Hudson and heavyweights just to display. Make it a J-1 or J-3 without all the sheet metal. They were handsome without that stuff. :tb-biggrin:

Here's a photo of J-1d 5300 from the collection of Harold K. Vollrath.

I'm in for a 1938 TCL w/Dreyfuss Hudson. In fact I emailed Kato for one right after the CZ was announced. I would also like to see them offer the Hudson unshrouded just as I hope we get an unskirted black GS-4.

If Kato keeps to their one train a year Schedule, we should see something announced next year in addition to the Broadway.

    2004: California Zephyr
    2005: Super Chief
2006: Morning Daylight (But not confirmed until '07)
    2007: Broadway Ltd.
    2008: ?

I think the next 3 trains will be (in no particular order):

    1. 20th Century Ltd.
    2. High level El Capitan
    3. UP City of Los Angeles (or San Francisco)

Although the announced re-release of UP smoothsides may have kicked my #3 in the head.

K-6 or K-5b and HWs, especially coaches, baggage and FULL RPOs. If they went with NYCS prototype HWs, they could also sell them in Old and Weary and Rutland.

The K-6 had a unique appearance, many refer to it as one of ALCo's few Ugly Ducklings. A K-6 would fit my era better, but I would take a K-5.

I like pacifics more than hudsons.

My pike has the broad curves to accomodate hudsons, but more guys have sharper curves on their home pikes that would be more suited to a pacific than a hudson.

Anyone buy one of those ESE hudsons yet? I am wondering how they are? I read that you have to paint and detail them yourself?

I would like to see one fully finished.
