Does anyone know if it's possible to make your own white decals, or if there is a company in Ontario canada that produces them? My logo consists of a white I and a light blue R but can not figure out how to do the white. Any help would be greatly appreciated
White decals are not the problem. The problem would be having to have an outline so you would know where to cut. Micro-Mark has white decals. The best would be an Alps dry transfer printer. The problem with that is they no longer make a consumer model. If someone has a good method for making white decals I would be interested. [ 04 April 2002, 04:02: Message edited by: Nick ]
welcome aboard western valley and also to you also nick. nick it's good to see another n scaler from illinois here.
One of the manufacturers makes a decal sheet that is solid white... just can't rmember who it is. If you have a sheet of clear film, you can paint an area white and then cut to the shape you need. I use two thin coats of paint.
Hi Ed and Nick, welcome to Trainboard to you both, and especially the N scale forum Ed, I bought some white decal paper that was made to use with an ink-jet printer, it printed ok, but the decal film was very thick, and I could not get it to adhere to the model, except by using varnish or white glue!!! All in all, not very satisfactory! I then got another make, and it also printed ok, but it had to have lots of coats of clear varnish to stop the ink running when dipped in water. Again, not satisfactory. Alps seems to be the way to go, pity they stopped making them
Here is a company I've heard about but have not tried yet. They make inkjet printable white decal paper. http://www.vitachrome.com/vitacalwhite.htm [ 13 April 2002, 05:10: Message edited by: blazeslayer ]
I have used vitachrome's clear decal product with much sucess. I havn't used the white paper yet though. It does cost about $4 to $5 an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet but seems to work well in some ink-jet printers. Brian
