I am contemplating changing over to metal wheels, and I would like your opinions on this. Also which makers wheels to use. I am using code 55 rail and mostly MT trucks.

I agree, the Fox Valley Models metal wheels are the best!

Let's not forget BLMA's new 70 ton and 100 ton trucks with the correct sized metal wheels both sold together at $5 a pair (is it a pair?) Go check BLMA's site. I'd say it's totally worth the price. IMHO.

    I'll vote for FVM.
I like the BLMA wheels but the price is outside my range.
IM wheels are cheeper but I bought 100 packs of 12 and they were terrible. Hats off to IM though they refunded the cost + postage + TAX I paid to get them to the UK.

    Cheers,
    Alan.

There are a couple different versions of the MT low-profile wheel. The ones currently being produced have a sharper flange, and in my experience are inferior in tracking compared to FVM, whereas the older ones (pre-2000 or so?) have a rounder flange and are equal or superior to FVM.
