I know the Rock intered Ft.Worth from the Bridgeport direction, but where did it run from the Peach yard to all other points south and east and west?
Well now after leaving Peach yard going south a junction was reached called Purina Jct. so named for the large Purina Chows mill which occupied both sides of the track. Taking the south leg of the wye would take you to tower 55, where RI trackage ended, this was so RI passenger trains could access the passenger stations in downtown Ft. Worth, also so interchange could be made with the other rail lines. Turning east would access the line to Dallas, the BRI, Burlington-Rock Island joint line and on to Houston. The SLSF also had trackage rights on this line between FTW and Dallas, accessing at Irving. Between Dallas Union Terminal and Waxahachie the line was owned by MKT with the BRI having trackage rights. Of course all this has changed hands now. DART owns most of it. From Waxahachie south its BNSF.
Thanks. I was wondered wich direction they ran. Did the Rock run quite a few rock trains between the D/FW area and chico turns back in its heyday?
