I think Digitrax has a website that has application guides for its decoders. there website is www.digitrax.com They also have a discussion group, if you need additional info on digitrax. I used them for a couple of problems I had and found them to be real accurate.HTH.Mike

Sounds like you need a decoder with 5 functions, headlight, taillight, beacon, and two ditch lights. I would recommend the NCE D15SR. It has 5 EFX functions and runs about $26 at Tony's Train Exchange. If you are running Digitrax and want transponding you could get the Digitrax DH142 but it only has 4 FX functions. It also costs more than the NCE decoder.

Contact the folks at TCS. Best service bar none. You can actually call during the day and speake to a knowledable service tech. They excell especially in tight fit scenarios. Im ready to swap out my Digitrax decoders on my Kato units. I cannot get the lighting functions to work properly.

As Mike says, The Digitrax site provides a table that will allow you to select the proper decoder. For the Proto 2000 SD60, they recommend the DH165LO.

It has 4 extra (unregulated) FX3 lighting outputs so you can do ditch lights and a beacon and still have one left over. It has a built in voltage regulator so you can use the original 1.5 V bulbs that came with the loco.

    The instruction sheet is HERE.
