Well, I began this thread and maybe this post will finish it. Like many threads here after awhile the original premise gets lost. No problem this time around. We've had some good postings. A couple of things seem clear to me. HO members are not as talkative as Z and N folks. No one actually said, "I'm not here because I'm over on ABC HO site". (That was my original query. If you aren't on this site here, where are you?) Many folks mentioned that HO folks are hard at work on their layouts and not 'hanging' out on websites. I laughed at first, but then I had a thought: Maybe there is some truth here. HO layouts being basically twice the size of N and much more for Z, means that the HO members indeed have twice as much to do in the same amount of time. Makes sense to me. Thanks for participating. Well, your original question is a bit like asking folks who aren't here to speak up. If they're not here, how do they know you're asking? Sure, the tree makes a sound when it falls and nobody is there to hear it...sure it does. :pconfused:

Another point - I make my very first post on this forum and you fail to acknowledge it in your response. If other new HO modelers are treated the same way then maybe they left to find somewhere they are greeted and welcomed and made to feel at home. I guess that depends on your expectations of what a forum is and how it works. I'm not that upset since I recognize folks may or may not have read this particular post...but I'm still somewhat bothered since a response appeared that did not at least include a greeting or some kind of recognition that a new poster appeared. Maybe I'll go back to lurking...:pfrown::pbaffled:

    Galen,
    Welcome to Trainboard. :)

In the past I tried to make a point of welcoming any new member I came upon. However, somehow recently, I have become remiss in continuing that old habit. Its not a scale related thing. I seem to have treated everyone the same. Maybe I am just becoming a grumpy old curmudgeon. Thanks for rattling my cage a little.:shame:

Galen, Sorry I missed your post total, they are not something I into, and thus failed to notice yours. But, welcome indeed. I was summing up this thread, I started it, because it looked like it had run it's course. I was not answering your post in anyway and if your reread my posting you will not see any direct reference to your posting. Simply because my post followed yours does not mean it was an answer or statement to you. Be careful out there. Jim PS Happy Birthday

Well, it's the weekend. When that post was made in the wee hours, I was struggling to get some sleep. After being half sick all of today, checking through (so far) three dozen new topics containing well over 200 posts, a batch of new members, monitoring photo uploads in two different places here, our Store Site, our Groups and Blog, sometimes we may miss a few...

Anyhow, glad you decided to un-lurk and post something, Galen. After almost five years, welcome to being active. Oh, and Happy Birthday.
