Thought we might need a little interest builder here. Any idea's when and where this was taken? Greg Elems
Greg- I've stopped by and looked at this several times. Am not even close to having any WP expertise. So am trying to pick out anything that will hint at where/when. The building is a metal structure. So I'd think more modern. But then I can barely make out someone in the distance. The clothing and hat make me think that unless this is a "staged" view in recent years, this was taken 1950's-1960's. But I'm afraid that is as close as I am going to get... Am I even in the neighborhood? BoxcabE50
Nope. That photo was taken at the Portola Railroad Museum. Compare it to this photo taken in 1993. As for the date, I'm not sure. Mid- to late 90's? Dwight PS- Ok, I cheated and just found the real date for the photo. Greg that is so cool! [ 25. July 2002, 13:34: Message edited by: Dwightman ]
The date of the picture will surprise you. I took it last weekend, on the 21st of July. The person in the background is one of the train crew and dressed for the job. I was experimenting with B&W to make a timeless picture. Greg Elems
Greg- So I wasn't that far off after all. B&W is a good medium. Guess that I am spoiled. I like to see pictures in color, as I'm blessed with good vision. BoxcabE50
Part of the reason that I could not agree with the '50's - 60's was the fact there's a haz-mat sign on the side of the shed between the shop and loco. These were not implemented until the mid-70's. Was this photo taken with a digital or standard camera??
The picture was taken with a Hewlett Packard digital camera in B&W mode. It has been pretty good over all. Bill, good eye catching the hazmat sign. Greg Elems
