HA! HA! Very funny guys, I was just wondering because they are running at least two a day between them? Just seems they are kinda far from home. Maybe Watash is right maybe they are lost!!
Andy- A couple of thoughts come into mind. Perhaps these units are on some sort of run through trains. Or possibly, they owe CP some hours, and these locos are paying them back by equalizing mileage. Boxcab E50
That could be. The Norfork&Southern trains are always mixed freight. But the CSX are all CSX grain cars. Saturday two UP trains went through followed by a Wisconsin Central.
Actually CP like the old Milwaukee Road is real good at " borrowing " power when nobody is looking. Kidding aside, today there is lots of power sharing aggrements with other railroads, & in the case of UP it is probably paying off horsepower hours for all the cp units in run through service out in the pacific northwest. See CSXT & NS power every day on trains between Milwaukee & various foreign yards in Chicago. Even see WC & CN power occasionally, probably paying back horsepower hours, but have had wreck detours on a couple of occasions. Did anyone catch the Royal Canadian Pacific business train that ran to Louisville for the KY Derby & retn to the Twin Cities for a rare milage charter earlier this month? 73's Bob
Hmmmm. Guessing by your location, job status, and being named Bob, this could be the guy who mailed a package of photos to the NW that just came in the morning mail..... Boxcab E50
I think the trains you are seeing are sulfer trains from Canada to Florida. I'm not sure if it's a CSX train running over CP or a CP train running over CSX or (most likely) a joint operation.
