Thought I could use a standpipe like this one.
F0CAD102-156D-4425-A8A8-59DDA304E73D.png So I decided to make one. I used a paper clip for spout. The shaft was a round tooth pick. To simulate couplings on pipe I dabbed super glue on tooth pick and wound thread. It sticks instantly and I trim excess. Painted green mounted on balsa wood strip painted concrete. I used old brake wheel for what appears shut off glued to top of pin. Not perfect but captured it kinda close.

Thanks guys. I like finding or trying to find a way to scratch build with old school methods. Doesn’t always work but I did like the way this turned out. :)

I drew up the artwork in Corel Draw and printed them on my Alps printer.

I installed 9 meters of COB LED's so there are 7560 LED's lighting my layout. When I have it on max brightness it uses 162 watts.

Ah. OK. I have to make similar decals for my G-scale version of the car, so I'll just DIY it too. I don't have an ALPS, but decal paper has come a ways since I made my twin DLW milk cars.

Thanks Dave. I hope you'll share your experience with the decal papers...especially with printing white.

I can put the artwork in a pdf file so you can scale it up to G if you want, it was pretty simple.

I print white with an Alps printer, but I also use white decal paper in a color laser printer for multi color decals. It's really hard to cut out decals if you want white lettering printed on white decal paper, so what I have found is that by varying the background color in a range from a bit lighter to a bit darker than the model you put the white lettering on, and cutting as close to the edges as possible, you can make it work out ok.

That water pipe came out great! I need to make a few too, and I'll probably just copy your idea. I bought a Showcase one, but it's N Scale and is a bit too big.

No need to print white when it's all black lettering.

That would be great! I'm new to this forum format. What is the usual 'safe' way to give you my email address?
