Whats next Kato? :-)

Hey everyone.

I haven't been to active lately, but from what I can find I haven't seen any speculation on what's going to be next from Kato.

Any thoughts? Wishes?

Any facts I've missed?

NW2 in Santa Fe zebra stripes would be nice. I won't hold my breath though.

 

Well between now and Nov there are 4 new sets of coalporters being delivered as well as a single car.

 

SP PAs & PBs have shipped to us.

 

While I am not a big fan of Kato there is one thing they could do that would not only get my deepest appreciation but,a very large chunk of my hobby budget.

When are the E8/9s due to be shipped?

 

Most everything that has been announced by Kato, or any manufacturer, is due by January. The rest of 2009 is a mystery. I can't remember a time in recent years that didn't have a bunch of stuff in the works for future delivery.

Not to worry we still have the monthly announcements from Atlas and Athearn.

The 2 A's been knocking a large hole in my modeling budget for quite some time.

 

Hopefully something that has been fully tested before it hits the shops, i.e. doesnt short out, shed its traction tires, pulls more than its own weight, and will couple reliably. For the amount they charge for these things I think its the least they should do. But maybe a poor reputation doesnt bother them?

Hmmmm, I guess I have been lucky, I have never had any of these problems with my Kato units.

I dont know where you got your KATO"s, but I've NEVER-- had any of these problems with mine! You sure your talking about the right Manufacturer?:tb-shocked:

 

I wouldn't mind seeing Kato take on some NP passenger consists. They did a nice job with the Daylight set.

Other than that, maybe they could take on the project of making either SP&S 700 or the Royal Hudson.

 

Would love to see Santa Fe El Capitan high level passenger cars with FP-45s, that would scare the hell out of Athearn....

 

Or the Texas Chief with U28CG's or U30CG's, ok I know Minitrix has already done them 30 odd years ago but Kato ones would be nice as long as we're dreaming. I bet Kato are wishing they'd thought of FP45's first.

 

I think you've misread something here. We're talking about Kato. They pretty much have the best reputation around.

 

Yes, Kato does but they seemed to have had some issues with the Daylight 4-8-4 and the GG1.

When asked about NP NCL consists the reported answer from Kato was an unequivocal "NO." ... Time will tell ... but I'm not holding my breath. :tb-wacky:

They didn't even get the EMPIRE BUILDER correct. Didn't try to either .. :tb-err:
