    Just me again.

We just posted an update onto the What’s New page at www.wvrr.ca

This was more fun than most because I concentrated on those little scenes that we all manufacture to breathe a little life into our layout. I call them vignettes. In this case there are twelve picture/stories so the January 2007 edition is just a little on the lengthy side. Hope you don’t mind.

Don’t be afraid to contact the engineer. He’s always around here someplace.

I finally had a chance to just sit and stare at your vignettes. All are very nicely done. Reminders in some of my youth. Of scenes I've seen on the railroads. Great attention to detail! Couldn't quite read the name on that park sign. But sure recall that style.

Thanks for the comments. I try to do something for the website every three months (Every month for the proto-file) but work has kept me out of the basement for the past 6 or 8 months. Less done = less to see.

That's Centennial Park. With one of the N's missing. Don't know how that happened.

Great video of the layout on the website! Great layout, too. I could see it on the clipboard in the video.

    You started in N scale?

I bought an N scale train set for $16.00 back in 1972. It grew out of control but after nearly 30 years I just got tired of it and needed something better. See my 'History' pages.

Never regretted it for a minute. But I still like to look at it in the stores.

This sounds very familiar. My first set came in 1972. A Bachmann. I'm at a point now, where I've picked up some pieces of On30. Liking the idea of some whimsy. Freedom....?

I have been teetering in many scales :) The wife has HO EZ track, Bachmann power pack and Dale Earnhardt Sr pass train. It actually looks pretty good and of course, I have been itching somewhat to figure out how to get some HO track up somewhere and of course maybe pickup a GP38 in BN or CP just because.

Then there is the lure of Z scale. I have eyeing up the idea of a single track setup again......somewhere for a BN or GN train in the Mountains.

And there has been the long desire to build an outdoor layout in G scale. Even before we bought the house, we have talked about doing this someday. The G scale layout will wait a few years as we have to build a garage (and future train room the Next Canton Division) and some landscaping. I have to say G scale is just awesome. There is a train store in Saint Paul on Marshall Ave. The owner has some G scale setup and running on display....WOW! He has an GE P42 on sale that I drool over every time I see it.

And yes, there is N scale where the bulk of modeling interest lies.

The point to all of this rambling is scale is somewhat irrelevant. It is about the trains and modeling in general......it is just fun :).

To be honest....if space was no issue, I would probably model G scale as my primary scale....it is just so cool!!

    Dave,
I have long been a fan of your layout and website. When it finally comes time for me to start building in G scale......I will be using your work as a reference guide :)

    Thanks.

I very much appreciate your comments and I hope you continue to glean a little help from the web site.

Friends finally talked me into having a small prototype reference page on the web site. The proto-file. I was reluctant at first because, after all, the WVRR is supposed to be 'real' itself. But I think it has worked out well. It gives me an opportunity to show some of the local prototype to people who are unfamiliar with the area that's modelled.

    So far - so good.

BTW: If I ever lost this great basement I'd do N scale stuff again.

:eek:mg: Nothing against N. I'm still active, and well into my 35th year. Also dabbling in On30. But it would be sad to see your big stuff go away.
