Well, it was not really a purchase, but a gift. I got the Kato Silver Streak set. As always, a very nice set indeed. The E5A is a little beast. It pulls the 5 cars areounf tight turns and about a 4% grade with ease. Very nice set. I am still grinning. I also found a Micro Trains ATSF box car set to go with the 4-4-0 Loco and caboose. The 4-4-0 will pull the 5 boxcars on the same track even better than the E5A. I have an Athearn 2-6-0 that can't pull itself up the grade. Time to invest in some Bullfrog snot I guess. Anyway, Happy Holidays folks.

I took advantage of the 20% sale at Fast Tracks. That was not really the plan, but could not let that go. Hoping to start preparing the garage for a new project.

Okay, I'm cheating because this is not a purchase, not N scale and I'm trying to unload it on somebody. Not a purchase but a find. Going through piles of stuff from my deceased parents' garage attic... a lot of maps, travel brochures, postcards etc. from the auto trips they took in the 1930s. I found a 1930s city street map of San Diego, intact. Printed as an advertising giveaway for Bekins moving and storage, the company that had the big warehouse that shows in so many photos of Santa Fe passenger trains at the San Diego depot. As part of the company promotion, it shows 1930s variety containerization of household goods for moving by truck, railroad flatcar or ship. I thought I would post this here to share with Trainboard watchers.

Now I have this image stored for my own reference and shared for Trainboarders, I am (shameless commercial plug) selling off the original on eBay. Thought it might be of interest for collectors of San Diego local history. I listed as "1930s SAN DIEGO CITY STREET MAP /BEKINS ". If you want to look, be sure and access eBay via Trainboard so Trainboard gets credit for sending people there.

Kind of frustrated I had to purchase this stuff bit by bit on eBay, but I guess it beats waiting on Atlas. These are the last four I need for my trackplan.

Just ordered the 1.65 upgrade for my NCE Power Cab and bought a SB5 Booster. As my layout has grown I figured a little more power would improve engine performance, especially sound units.

I recently picked up these two Atlas geeps to power the mine shifters on my upcoming layout. I just need to replace the Lenz decoder in the gp30 with a TCS decoder so it'll speed match with the gp38-2.

    DSCF2087.JPG .

Bought this off of Ebay. It was advertised as custom painted and was sitting on an NP caboose box in the pictures. Imagine my surprise when it arrived and it was in the correct Atlas box (limited run for Lowell Smith). The trucks have two different types/brands of wheels, but that is an easy fix. Better yet, I paid less than $18 postage included.

Just returned from Dupage Train Show. Of course, found some more goodies !!! Got a M/T gon with some tank "thingies" in C&NW, M/T flat with a tarp-covered load in CP, M/T bulkhead flat in BN, Kato baggage car in CB&Q (for now !!!), CMW Ford fuel delivery trucks in SOHIO, Walthers Medusa Cement Company, and probably the coolest thing, W/S Tidy Track wheel cleaner !!! Also had a strange treat on the way home. Saw a CN RDC sitting on old EJ&E main (now CN) in Plainfield, IL !!! Does anybody know why ???
