Seeing how I can now make N scale detial parts, what do we N scalers need that is not already done in N scale (besides GPS domes......thoughs are on the way [IMG]). I'm talking about things for diesel locomotives.

    Thanks!

How about a replacement plow for the LL F-40? You know something with a slightly smaller opening for the coupler.

That is a good idea and I will definately consider it. I was thinking more along the lines of air conditioner type things, but, I will definately consider the pilot for the LL F40! Thanks for the suggestion, any more?????...............

When it comes to making details, I get ALL of the dimensions right, but when it comes to doing some of my own stuff, I might fake things a little.

Here is what I am getting at. I might make a GP60M cab and GP60 dynamic brake housing. These could fit on GP50's, but I was going to put them on an Atlas GP40-2 I have. I know it's not prototypical, but it's not that far off.

My question is this, how many of you would be interested in a GP60M and GP60 DB housing to fit on an Atlas GP40-2 or a Kato GP50? If I get enough "Yes's", I will go ahead and do it, if not, I will only do one for my self.

    Thanks!

    YES,
To the DB housing for me, as I need quite a few to model some 60s. As for other detail parts, how about some highhood kits for EMDs and a Moloco cabin kit for us N scalers? Flush side cabins are hard to kitbash by any standards and since the HO kit is made, just reduce the dimensions and cast it in resin and I would gladly buy alot [IMG]. And on another note, how about a decent all weather window for us N scalers as JnJ is the only game in town, and variation always breeds improvement, and any roof top AC units would be gladly welcomed by many of us. Just my thoughts and wants, and y'all have a good one, Justin

Thank you Justin! I will take all of those ideas in consideration.

I have gottan a lot of replys about doing some all weather windows, and will definately look into it. My problem for now is that the resin I am using is white, not clear! [IMG]

    I'll look around though.

    Thanks!

Same here! Anything to build the gp60m AND the gp60b! How about a b30-7ab shell for us BN addicts! Sorry got carried away, I realize you said parts but the shell is just one part right? [IMG]

Craig,I already have a GP-40m.How about doing the Canadian 4 window safety cab.Might I offer the suggestion that you do the safety cabs to work with the origonal battery boxs. When I did the GP-40m I used the complete nose from an ATLAS SD-60 and I am constantly glueing it back together cause there isn't very much gluing area.Oh yeah, while I'm thinking about count me in for a GP-60m cab or three. The GVRR is a very progressive rr. Thank you every one! With the GP60M, all it would be is the cab and nose, which would fit on an existiing shell. It would also come with the DB housing. On the GP60M part, it would be EXACTLY right, with the headlights of center, door on the left side (and as a math treacher I had used to say) and all that jazz. So it would be right, and it would be made to snap in.

    Thanks guys!

I've found that there is a large gap in the types of air horns available.Real scale 5-chimes and different types of 3-chimes are hard to find. The ones that are out there are generally no more than blobs of metal on a stick.

I would love to do air horns, but I don't have the equipment to do things that are that small, sorry.

OK, I have been searching and searching and have gotten some good pics of the top of a GP60M or just GP60, but does any one have a link to a pic of taken from above the DB housing? Thanks!

Alan, a GP60B unit would be a little more tuff, so first I am going to tackle the GP60M.....we'll see about the B unit if the 60M unit comes out.

I feel the same about the air horns, and Alan, it would be great if you did em in brass (white metal might be to soft).

About the hot box detector, I was thinking about doing things like that also. I was thinking about making concrete car stoppers and small sqaure planters as well.

    We'll see though.

Thanks guys! Keep those suggestions coming, they will benifit you and me! [IMG]

    Thanks!

OK everyone, here is my list of things to do, wish and things that WILL come out:

    "FOR SURES"
    1. GPS dome (july)
    2. Beacon stand (When RR like SF removed beacons, they sometimes left the stand, this is what that is)
    3. CN type bell mount (CN and other roads like Southern had bells mounted above the windows on the cab, THIS IS ONLY THE STAND ANS NOT THE BELL)
    4. Light covers (when roads removed headlights, they just cover them up with one of these; MANY styles)
    5. Nose lights (for Rio Grand and SP; MANY styles)
    5. Posrch mount ditch lights (MANY styles for roads like SP and CN)
    6. MU holder (as seen on the front stantions of UP locomotives.....looks like a coffe can)
    7. SP lights for RSD5's
    8. CN and SP style snow covers for behind cabs.

    "WISH LIST"

    1. GP60M cab
    2. GP60 DB housing
    3. SD70 type truck side frames (HTCR)
    4. All weather windows
    5. Open door (for locomotive's)
    6. LL F40 pilot convertion
    7. SW9 nose replacement (to make into....??? gotta do more reseatch on that one)

    "Other things"

    1. Sqaure brick planters for side walks
    2. Concrete car stops
    3. Hot box detectors

OK, there is the bulk of my list, expected time of arrival is not known for everything except the GPS domes (though some will follow VERY shortly)

    Keep the lists coming!

    Thanks!

This is a great idea! Other track side details like relay cabinets, turn-out motors, and SIGNALS! Targets, three light, dwarfs, multi-position aspect (B&O, Pennsy, N&W) and UP bonnet styles.
