I wonder what major brand this might have been before it was rebranded to an off brand. Nice art deco glass block corners. 116 South Main St. in Shamrock, Texas.
Another Shamrock, Texas station.... ..... a friend and I on our way to a NSRA car show in Oklahoma City and then on to Missouri. I started in Utah and we joined up in Farmington, NM. The pickup is mine and the chevy his. Sumner
I just came across this image while surfing the internet. It looks sort of familiar like it has been posted here before. Looks like Route 66 somewhere in the Midwest.
Downtown Carthage, Missouri where 71 crosses 66. Today above. I don't remember that intersection but probably drove by it a bunch of years ago when I went to Carthage to buy the grill for my street rod. The guy that owns the car we raced at Bonneville lived right on old 66 in Chelsea, OK not to far west of there. We went to a car show over in Missouri and took old 66 back to his house and Old 66 snakes all around right where Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma come together hitting every little town there. I heard they just dipped into the very edge of Kansas for more revenue possibly or some other reason. 66 didn't take the most direct route in that area. Sumner
I agree. The era of cinder block, glass block and similar construction had classy appearance. And note the sign in background "clean restrooms". Yup.
Especially the "clean restrooms". I notice a HUDSON sign in the background. I wonder if that was the cars?
Oh yah, now I remember. I saw them in the southern states in '70. And an oil can at an auction in Eagle, WI.
North Zulch, Texas was on the Burlington, Rock Island joint line north of Houston. Used to ride bicycles through there on long distance bike rides back during college. I always thought it was a cool name.
