Soundtraxx DSX sound only decoders have many individual diesels sounds available as well as individual steam sounds.

You just pick the diesel sound that you want and then order the decoder.

You can wire this decoder to a four inch Radio Shack speaker and place it under the benchwork. I've used this technique for over six years.

You then multiconsist the decoder to a loco and the decoder acts like a loco and responds to changes in the throttle of any DCC system.

This is very easy to do.

The Soundtraxx DSX spund only decoders can be programmed and the sound with a four inch speaker is very dramatic.

Powersteamguy, when you wire the Soundtraxx decoder to the speaker, do you also have to hardwire the decoder to the tracks? Please explain how that is done. Thanks.

    Dave:

First you have to program the decoder on the programming track with a number. I have 25 Soundtraxx DSX sound only decoders. I started with one, skipped three, and continued on up. Three is the default address for every decoder.

You the wire a capacitor which is included in series with one of the purple wires to a speaker terminal. The second purple wire goes directly to the second speaker terminal. You wire the red and black wires to your common bus lines,

You don't use the brown wire from the Soundtraxx decoder.

After you set up the wiring, you can program the CV values of the Soundtraxx decoder on the mainline (POM).

    It's rather easy to do.

You then multi-consist the decoder to a loco/loco's.

    For example:

The soundtraxx decoder has an address of 07., the two loco's, 3175 and 3463.

The three loco's in the consist are 07,3175 and 3463.

The Soundtraxx sound only decoder #07 acts like a loco and the sound from the decoder responds to changes in the throttle. It provides added realism to your layout.

You can listen to individual sounds of loco's on the Soundtraxx website. Tony's Trains also has all the sounds on their website as well.

    Have fun... [IMG]
