I’m still trying to resolve some uploading problems into Railimages, but I wonder if anybody has any advice on organizing the Photos for uploading after I get my problem resolved. When I first started my layout, I took photos as I was going along and put them into Photobucket. They just kind of organized themselves in a timeline sequence as I uploaded them. Now I would like to put them into RailImages, but I don’t know how to organize them. I thought of uploading then in groups as Zipped files but I don’t quite understand how the process works after they are uploaded. Do they remain zipped or are they opened into a group folder? Is there a Tip Sheet or Instructions on the best way to organize uploads?
Let me answer your questions this way... When you upload a ZIP file (when it works ) the images are then unloaded by the RailImages software into your main album. The ZIP file is not kept nor is there any special folder setup for them based on the ZIP file. As a normal member you only have access to the main album feature within your gallery section; which does not allow you to create sub-albums nor set any specific order of the images. One can gain more options by becoming a TrainBoard / RailImages Supporter. As you will quickly find out being an active member here is that we operate as a all volunteer team and part of the way we pay our bills around here is by members being financial supporters No one here is required to be a financial supporter but we do reward those that do Check out: The latest list of what we offer to financial supporters Folks here that are "TrainBoard/RailImages Supporter" members that have large gallery of images do take advantage of the sub-folder feature and in some cases the order feature. We don't ask much to become a "TrainBoard/RailImages Supporter" because we try our best to keep exspenses low while making this what we believe is the best RR forum on the internet.
Albums are the way to go, putting photos of the same type or same layout, whatever, into albums. As Darren said, becoming a contributor helps in the options available to you. Regarding your earlier uploading problems, I overcame them by uploading files of fewer megapixels. If you get your individual photo files below one meg, I expect that you will be able to upload without problems. Please try that and let me know if it works out. :tb-biggrin:
I tried again to upload and it worked with 6 photos. I uploaded 11 photos total, but I did not realize that you need to create an Album first then upload the photos from inside the Sub-Album. Is there a way to move photos into the Sub-Album from the Main Album?
Yes you can!!! If this doesn't since make since let me know and I will try to make it clearer when I have a bit more time. If the "Edit" your image (within RailImages itself) I believe you will see a option to "Copy Image to" and find the Sub-Album of yours you wish to copy it to. I should have copied one of your images into a Sub-Album for you already as a quick test of the process.
Thanks, I think I'm getting the hang of it now.:tb-biggrin: Should I delete the photos left in the main album after I copied them?
