What is that little light-bulb with a top hat thing next to our names? What is the difference between the red ones and the sort of Dr. Pepper colored ones?

You hear of people not parsing language correctly. In this case, I had parsed the graphic incorrectly. I thought it was some guy wearing a stiff collar and some sort of modified not quite a top hat but not quite a porkpie hat, almost like a Mayflower pilgrim hat in a way. It was all very confusing to me.

The lantern makes a lot more sense.

Thanks for making the color coding obvious, too. I had originally thought that red meant new member, but then I noticed that wasn't the case. I also noticed that mine always appears red to me, which could mean that it had something to do with online vs. offline.

Thanks, all! This was one of those "I am almost too embarrassed to admit I don't already know this" questions.

That's okay. I'm just glad you asked an easy question. I can't help much if you ask about DCC, making trees, regauging wheelsets, etc.....

I think you were right to start with. I actually thought it was a lantern but no that you said it sure looks like a guy with a hat and a white collar.OK, thats a line of bullship. It would be interesting to ask a hundred people on the street what it is. I bet most would go with the guy with the hat and the collar.*S*

:tb-biggrin:I wish I could claim such bull-ship, but I was actually confused as to what it was and the top of the lantern read like a hat and the rest just kind of fell out of that. It was reinforced when thee latest smilies showed up, the green ones with hats. I though, oh, okay, we are definitely into haberdashery then, what what!

For those of us old enough to remember lanterns and detachable shirt collars, I always thought it was a lantern. A tight collar could turn a Caucasian person's face red or pink, but rarely green or Dr Pepper colored.

I have seen lanterns. I keep trying to see it as a lantern but it still looks like a little guy.
