:startled: A big oop's. You are so right it would be the other Pete. I just noticed they are back up and running but my password doesn't work. Not a problem I'ma happy with the forums I participate on...as is. Thinking it over... I may try to reset it later. Never jump to conclusions without all the facts. I had to reset the password and everything is good.
Big thanks to Trainboard for being so gracious. But then you have always been gracious about these events for as long as I've been here. I'm not here as much, nor on other forums, due to a lot of life changes. When we decide where the layout will be reconstructed, I'll be back.
I would also like to thank the folks here at Trainboard for allowing this thread to continue. Since the shutdown of the Atlas forum, I have been spending more time on this forum along with the Railwire. These are the two forums that I follow daily. Thanks, Scott
If you're having problems you may want to refresh (shift-F5) or a clean out of the cache. I've had no problems for the last couple hours. All I had to do is log in. Jason
I just had to log back in. When I first went to Railwire, I could read posts, but saw only a "logged" icon in the lower right corner of each post. When I logged back in, everything was back to normal.
Whew! For those who haven't been here or on other train forums for a decade or so, BarstowRick and I go back a long way--maybe 2001 or 2002?--and have always had so much fun teasing each other that mods have asked me (and probably BRick also) if there was any animosity between us. No, assuredly there is not, and we both enjoy having a little fun at the expense of each other, and sometimes at the expense of others, which has sometimes gotten both of us in warm water, if not hot. I've been around the forums for a long time, and actually researched them as a part of a previous job to determine the social dynamics, and how they would affect national security. I came to one simple conclusion (among others) about forums: there is no institutional memory beyond about six months, maybe less. If you are not out there plugging yourself every day (or every hour with Twitter et al), you get forgotten and buried in the never-ending stream of chatter.
It's Tuesday morning now, and I have yet to get in. I've refreshed all over the place, even tried different browsers but no go. I also wish to thank TB for the tolerance. Which is why Trainboard is my main forum. And has been.
What Pete Nolan said about our friendship is true. Look real friends can rattle each other's cages, tease, banter about without hurting each other. Admittedly, it can come at a cost, or as Pete said, "At each other's expense". A true friend will tell you the truth, which can hurt and be painfull to accept at times. May I suggest, to be looked at as a gift. One example of such, the best gift I've ever been given (bar none) was by a group of people who helped me to see myself, for what I really am. It was painful at the time but I will forever be thankfull for the time, truth and reality they gave me. Pete Nolan, has been this kind of friend to and for me. Do I dare say, one of the best Administrator's this board has ever had. He was someone I could talk to and at times bluntly but he could respond in the same voice and we'd never lacked for respect of and for each other. We both come from a similar administrative backgrounds so, it is easier for us to communicate. Pete N., good to see you participating here on TB. Hoping, you can get settled and your layout back up and running. Regarding RailWire: You guys and gals need to try this on RailWire. Log in, if that doesn't work, a window should pop up asking you if you forgot your password. Click on it and reset your password. Once I did that I was back in and not feeling left out. Some of us may have to re-register. You should be good to go.
I can open the page but it won't let me log in. If I delete my name and password and try to look at a post I get the "Forbidden" message again. There are 15 "guests" looking which is probably all of us members. Are any of the Railwire Admins on TB so that they might know of our problems? Also, I echo the thanks to TB for letting this thread continue. Reminds me of the many RW threads in past years asking if Atlas board was down.
I was able to log back in this morning. Posting has resumed although I think a few threads got deleted when he rebooted from a saved version. Brian
Could someone who CAN post over there...post a thread there asking what the problem is...then report back here...TIA
I just got in no problem. I would start a topic but what would I call it and what would I ask? I think the problem is probably not on the Railwire but that those having issues need to fiddle with it a bit on the browser end, but really I have no idea. Maybe try running a Google search on Railwire and then go to the link that comes up, not whatever calcified and possibly outdated bookmark you have in your browser. I know I have to do that with all sorts of boards, occasionally, including this one. In the Admin forum over there, Tom Mann says it was down for 24 hours but is back up now. I posted a link there to this topic here asking someone in the know to please come visit here and help people get back on over there. Hopefully, someone can and will respond. Adam
