There is no mention of it on their website at all. I was hoping for a Santa Fe SD75M release, but it looks like they have discontinued the SD70M? Weird, as it's a relatively new model. Does anyone know what the deal is?

OBTW, does anyone else feel like their new website is hard to navigate?

    I HATE their new website!!

The old site was a treasure trove of information and so easy to navigate.

IMHO whoever decided to remove all content of everything not currently in production should be declared a 'Clear and Present Danger' to Model Railroading:tb-mad:

I would like to see Kato release a Canadian National SD70I or SD75I, but rather than wait for something that might never happen, I've ordered a undec Noselight body shell, matching glass set and handrails to paint up and swap with one of my current SD70MACs

    That's a really good question

We have encouraged them numerous times to re-release them.
We have a few dozen customers lined up for the SP version that want at least 15 additional road numbers and yet it appears Kato is satisfied with the sales they have had.
Not as many want more of the CSX but there are people asking for them also.
The NS is in great demand by the analog world.
Strangely there are many fewer requests for the UP version.

I think a good seller would be the EMD SD70M Demos #7000-7002 that were on lease to UP, then sold to CSX. I think the demos made their way to other roads, and were MUCH better looking than the EMD lease units like those Athearn released.

Absolutely! I would pop for a couple of the demos from Kato in a heartbeat, along with some Santa Fe SD75Ms and more SP road numbers. Come on Kato, bring 'em on!

The demos spent some time on the SP I-5 corridor prior to the UP takeover, along with the all-burgundy leasers.

I agree Dave. While they're not in my usual era, it would be hard for me not to pick up a few to mix with other non-era UP SD60s & SD60Ms on the shelf.

CSX got all 25 EMDX units and 2 of the demo were in that scheme untill recently. I have 10 of the Kato models, 3 undecs and 7 of the CSX release and they all run great. They retire the ugly Athearns units I wasted money on. If Kato does make more numbers I would probably get at least one of the number they release but what I relly need are GE AC6000, GEVOS and EMD SD70ACE.

I'm with you Sundowner. I need the same locs. I doubt we will ever see the AC6000 as only UP and CSX purchased them. Kato could sell a bunch of all you mentioned as well as
SD 40-2s in road names other than SF/BNSF.

Odd, didn't only SP have Daylight steamers? Doesn't seem to be hurting sales any. Neither did it hurt sales of the California Zephyr or the Daylight coaches.

I think "only a few roads had them" has to be buried along with the Rapido coupler as a old wives tale that has been proven false.

Yes I agree with the fore mentioned post. I wish Kato would come rerun this model in a few different road numbers in SP for sure that's what I model. I refuse to directly purchase any UP(Company Greed that cost our hobby & us). But with that said I just picked one up from KSI at a great price with excellent service, and there banner appears on the top of the site here. So look them up before there all gone.

Not odd on this particular loco Tony. The SP was the only road that had Daylights but a steamer like 4449 known around the world has a bigger market draw tha an AC6000 diesel. I hope I am wrong but I just dont see Kato doing this loco.

Kato did the SD80mac and SD9043macs when only 3 roads own them. Kato also did a BN specific early production 70mac with specific early production trucks and hanrails. So I have hope that one day soon we might get lucky and they produce a AC6000 which the prototype looks like they are going to outlast the SD90macs.

did you order the SD70M trucks as well ? the SD70M shell will not fit the SD70MAC drive with the SD70MAC trucks, you need the SD70M trucks... :(

Actually, you have CR, CSX and NS SD80MACs and CP, UP and CEFX (maroon) SD9043MACs.

Actually wen Kato made the first run only CR had the 80macs and UP and CP had the 9043macs. The CR split was still pending anf CEFX did not buy there 9043 yet.
