I've been there and bought dozens of really great stuff that I couldn't find anywhere else, but in trying to go to their website all I now get is a blank page. Is it just me or did something happen to them?

No, ReplublicLocomotiveWorks.Com. They sold a bunch of Nn3 stuff, tons of detail parts, sawmill kits, back woods stuff.

I used to buy stuff from them too. The last time I seen Marshall and his wife at a train show was maybe 6-7 years ago, and they were looking to be getting on in years then. I have not heard of any retirement or closing though?

I have been seeing some of their items on ebay lately. I was wondering if they were getting out of the business.

I sent Marshall an email. Will let you know if I get a reply and he has anything to share. I bought some stuff there as recently as July.

    Stay safe.

Was Cathlamet, Washington, where Republic Locomotive Works is (or was) located one of the areas that recently burned in the huge forest fires?

The site is loading a 500 error, which is a check engine light for websites. Most likely, there is an error in the code, his server got upgraded and the site is not compatible, or he was hacked.

No. They might have received some smoke, if the winds blew westward. Cathlamet is west-northwest of Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR. IUt's right on the Columbia River.

    Hi All,

I have not received a reply from Marshall, however I learned the following from Tom Knapp and am happy to relay:

    1. Marshall and his wife are fine.
    2. He is aware of the problem with the website.
    3. There is no estimate of when the problem will be fixed.

Hey Mark, Since we are both in the same area hopefully we can meet up some time at a show or something... whenever we have shows again that is. I am with the Cascade Pacific N-scalers T-Trak club.

Same here!! I just joined the club at the end of the last season and well... This season turned out to be pretty messed up. Most if not all of our 2021 shows have already been canceled. so maybe 2022?

More info on RLW. I am lifting this from the Nn3 groups.io page so I hope I'm not crossing any lines I shouldn't.

After explaining the situation with respect to his website host, Marshall continued,

"... I have had so few orders lately that it probably won’t matter.

In the mean time we will have to revert back to the old days. To order send an email order to rlw871@gmail.com. I will respond in 1 to 2 days. To pay you can send your card information in multiple emails or call 360-577-6479. Sorry for the inconvenience.

On a positive note Tom has finished the drawings for the McDonald sawmill so it will be available soon."

Should be no problem, as he is a manufacturer and direct seller, so does not compete with anyone as a hobby shop.

If his site is down, someone must have a list of his current products and pricing, to place an order?

They are one of the few suppliers left for steam loco parts.

Would it be possible for him to print out his price list and post it to one of these forums? I was waiting until next month to place an order. Guess I waited too long. I haven't seen the parts I need anywhere else on the net.

Kinda strange how many model train manufacturers there are in the PNW. This is like the 4th or 5th company I have recently discovered in my neck of the woods.

And both N magazines as well.

N scale has been big time in the PNW/Puget Sound vicinity since the late 1970's. NTrak really made it take off locally. I really miss those days. We had some great times!

For all that is here, I am really surprised that the NMRA shows and stuff are not like they were when I was over in Norfolk. We were busy all year with shows mainly big ones in the winter but there were still some shows in the summer. The modular group would visit a nursing home every year and the residents loved us. We would set up in the mall over a weekend, and the library and museum would even host us. Most of our shows were just displays of a scale or two and was more for the people than putting on a show with vendors and what have you. Yes we did that too but it seems the PNW clubs mainly only do that.
