Take a look at this. Saw this sitting on the siding here in washington. On a brighter note, picture taken at lonestar gravel pit along the puget sound, washington. and at the same place, i thought this was interesting. I have never seen Canadian Pacific down here before. maybe its just me.
Popular thinks- I'm in Bellingham and have seen CP in town a couple of times along with CN (Different trains though)
Popularthinks- Where was the siding that your photo shows the wrecked hopper? I don't recognize it right away. Boxcab E50
that siding is in alkewood washington. It is near 100th street if you know where that is. now tacoma rail has taken over that line that bnsf used to use.
Lakewood. OK. I do know where that is. It's been a few years since last in that specific area. What is Tacoma Rail using for power these days? Boxcab E50
I think this is what they have as of now. 1202 EMD SW9 1204 EMD SW1200 1521 EMD MP15AC 1522 EMD MP15AC 1523 EMD MP15AC 2000 EMD/SCL GP16u 2001 EMD/SCL GP16u 2002 EMD GP20 2003 EMD GP20 2005 EMD GP9u 2006 EMD GP9u 3000 EMD SD40 3001 EMD SD40R here is a pic of TR crossing 56th st. near the feed plant
I can't remember- Aren't the two SW units ex-TMBL? So do they interchange at all with BNSF? So much has changed since the early days of BN. It's getting difficult to recognize how that was laid out, just 20 years ago! Boxcab E50
yes the sw are ex-TMBL. Well BN used to run up the track from downtown through south Tacoma going south. However since the city of Tacoma has done some improvements downtown and added a railcar transit service they disrupted bn's line that went in that direction. Near the UW of Tacoma there were some tracks there that lead south to S. Tacoma Way. Well downtown those are gone because this new transit service put rails crossing pacific ave there, but going in the opposite direction. in turn that made bn and go all the way to nisqually i believe just to turn around and come back to south Tacoma way in order to pick up their loads and what not. I think it became a hassle for bn and they gave that portion of small business up to Tacoma Rail. However before bn gave the track over to T-Rail, they did a bunch of repairs on it for faster moving trains. There were plans to try and bring the sounder down into Lakewood where they would build a station.
What happened to the Sounder-Lakewood plans? I remember hearing about those. Are they cancelled? Delayed? Boxcab E50
you know i am not sure, last i heard was they were planning on doing it. however maybe since now the track was given over to Tacoma-Rail maybe this has cause a slow down into getting those plans across. but really i do not know. hey do you know if there are any modelers out there that have model the milwaukee here in washington?
I agree with the poster who wrote about too high of a coupling speed. Looks like somebody gave that car too much of a "kick" or let it roll too far and gain too much speed before coupling into another string of cars. CT
The car looks like it was "cornered".It looks like another car hit it when it wasn't in the clear of a switch.
