.... my montana rail link f45 ? soon my 3 f45 kits will be ready to the point to get painted. what color matches mrl blue the best ? thanks for any hints
Polly S #410442 Mt. Rail Link Blue I don't think this brand is still available (so no big help here), lucky me I was able to buy a whole lot of old colors from a guy who went out of painting... ...wait, I could share a half bottle with you (the paint is water based so it wouldn't be a problem to send it oversea) other suggestions: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,414780,nodelay=1 http://www.nscale.net/node%2F4528 or mix your own color...
I haven't found a perfect match........Floquil 110050 Dark Blue is about the best option....It's a little dark, but the next closest match I've found is CSX blue, but it's too light by more than the Dark Blue is too dark. I was going to try mixing the 2, but haven't gotten around to it. The DB actually matches up really well with most of the cars I have and the early SD and GP35's from atlas, but the newer low hood SD35's are a lighter blue. I've noticed though that actual MRL engines vary a lot depending on the light hitting them.....in bright sun they appear very blue, but on overcast days the blue is very dark. I'd start with the dark blue and try to lighten it just a touch.
