I think I became almost addicted to the Walthers Cornerstone Modulars kits :tb-cool:
I have built several factory buildings using these parts, and thought I have run out of space.

Now I have found another place on the layout where I can build an industry building. And I am thinking about the proper color. The parts all came in that sand color with green windows. So far I have painted or airbrushed them in several shades of flat brick color, using either the original green windows or painting the windows gray (which is a major pain). Now I think about what color could be used for another building. Are there any bricks that resemble the original sand color?

I have seen several great buildings built with Modulars, but I think they were all red brick color. Are there alternatives? I am just looking for some inspiration and ideas.

If you are looking for ideas/inspiration you might like to try a rearch of Google images using industrial building for modern stuff and a I guess some older buildings as well or old industrial building for some older styles and having a look through the thousands of images that are available.

    Cheers,
    Alan.

Not too common in California, but I believe yelowish bricks are not uncommon in the midwest. My grandma's house in Detroit was sorta yellow. Do a google image search for "yellow brick building" and you may see something useful to you.

I usually resort to either Polly S "Boxcar Red" or "Roof Brown" for the walls and either a black or dark green for the windows. I haven't done it yet but have considered just shooting the walls with dull coat. No matter what color you use, I'm sure there's probably a prototype out there somewhere.....in the meantime, have fun.

I’ve actually seen green bricks and of course bricks can be, and are, painted all colors imaginable.

There certainly are sand colored bricks.

You need to ascertain what period you are doing. Most, if not all, of the pictures are in black and white. The only color pictures that I found of old buildings were various shades of red.

Various shades of red is what I see here in Northern Germany. So I will probably finish the next factory buildings in red, since I have to paint them anyway.
And I will do some more searches on Google etc..

Thank you to all for the hints and advice :)

Most brick in the Northeast was dark red. The midwaest has more yellow brick I belive, but it depended on the era.

I have about 40 packs of modulars in the basement. I have not built anything yet, but love the possibilities. I really wish they did large windows for manufactuering and power plants. The window sizes they have right now are best for warehouses.
