Does anyone know what classification these cars were? Here is a photo (not mine, so it's not hot-linked): http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2458128 Thanks in advance, Adam
Looks like someone found a RLW kit to get started on! You know Adam these are also very similar if not exactly like the ones the GN had as well.
I appear to have answered my own question, but you more knowledgeable on SP rolling stock please check my work. These appear to be G-100-12 class wood chip gondolas... http://www.railgoat.railfan.net/spcars/byclass/gon/g100-12.htm
Adam, You could also do some WTCX cars as well. Weyco bought a bunch of these cars from SP and used them on the Woods line out of Longview. These cars lasted right up until the end of operations at Green Mtn and were eventually cut up when Weyco scrapped the cars and mill. There are pictures of them on the Weyco yahoo group. Ryan
I figured I'd start with two SP and a GN BSB one and then move on from there. If I order two or three of these now and then, paint them, decal them, and get them going and do that somewhat regularly I'll have a pretty nice fleet before long.
The car in your original post has bottom discharge doors, making it a different car than the one you reference later. Maybe this is one of the sugar beet cars?
Aggh, you're right. The one that I am looking for is the one that ExactRail made a model of a few years back, the 7466 CF woodchip car.
