Thanks Rick! I’ll take that advice. I don’t know about saving any money because I have to reserve it for now.

    Thanks Gary.

I’ve been working three days at trying to get my NCE USB Adapter to work and I finally just got it to work. So for right now I don’t even want to think about putting in a Decoder or anything to do with DCC right now. It turned out to be a simple problem, but I worked on it all day yesterday and since 3AM this morning.

Normally I would argue against, based on my experience of Atlas decoders - but fitting the NCE decoder in my 2 MP15DCs was a pain - 1st one was fine, but I somehow smoked the 2nd :pmad: Not a good candidate for a novice DIY install.

Anyway, Atlas are using NCE decoders now, so why not save yourself the hassle.

The Dash 8-40's certainly use the NCE made AN12A0 decoder but are the latest releases, particularly the MP15 with a different, smaller decoder? If it is still a previous generation decoder then I would consider an after-market fitment.

As such, I installed a TCS MP15N with no problems and even went to the hassle of adding an operating beacon. It's a neat touch!
