I agree, Paul. They are superb! All the work is top-notch. It's worth going through all the 'thumbnails' to pick those of interest. I have quite a few... hehe.

    Gary.

I hope that is not a case of 'pink eye' - seen Scott Baio lately? [IMG]

And the models look even better in person! I had the pleasure of attending the meet (my second La Habra meet), and had a great time. I displayed a few models, including a SP SD45R that is STILL unfinished after nearly two years of work - Harry has a pic of it and some of the other stuff I brought on his site. I also had a chance to take in a couple of modeling clinics and talk to fellow fanatics. And Harry is right, the door prizes this year were awesome...Athearn had several Genesis 70-series units up for grabs, Intermountain had some of their F-units and freight cars, and many other books, models, and videos by other makers were also up for grabs. Too bad I didn't have any of the winning tickets! [IMG] It's a lot of fun, if anyone has a chance to attend a WPM meet or a local equivalent, I'd strongly suggest you go!

So you're 'the' Paul Ellis? I loved the 45-T2! Excellent work, Paul, and the weathering... [IMG]

Thanks for the compliments, Gary! That 45T-2 is one of the favorite units in my fleet, and is an excellent runner. Right now I'm working on another 45T-2, based upon one of the later units delivered, with roof A/C, anticlimber, square jacking plates, and misc. other details. Hopefully I'll have that Athearn/Cannon/RPP/Overland SP SD45R done in time for next year's meet...but then again, I was saying the same thing last year. [IMG]

    Great stuff...

Paul, how did you do the weathering on the T2? Airbrushed? And with what?

D'oh! I had forgotten that you can delete posts - thanks for the reminder, Gary! And as for your other question, I weathered the T-2 with my airbrush for most of the dirt and grime on the carbody. Floquil grimy black, dust, and mud, all thinned waaaayyy down, were the main colors I used. I also used chalks to simulate road and sander dust on the trucks, sidesills and fuel tank, and more chalk and airbrushing was used to simulate engine exhaust. The places on the engine where grime has been wiped away, like on the side of the nose where a crewman would brush against the unit when getting aboard, and on the rear, where someone would have cleaned off the roadnumber, was done by taking a small piece of tissue twisted to a point and dipped in thinner, and carefully wiping away the weathering until the clean paint underneath showed through. All this took time, but I think the final result was worth it. [IMG]

Thanks for the compliment, Paul...for the SD45T-2, I started with an Athearn short-nose SD40T-2, with lots of parts from Cannon & Co.
