I've been searching and I have been unsuccessful at finding any Western Pacific or Utah Railway Photo Rosters. Does anyone know of any good ones?
Seant The best book on the WP diesel years is the one by V.Staff. I was published in 1984 and I don't know if you will be able to find a copy of it. It is called D Day on the Western Pacific. If you find a copy let me know and I will send you the corrections pages given to me by Mr. Staff. As far as steam on the WP goes the Guy Dunscomb book Western Steam Pictorial is very very good. The another Dunscomb book on WP steam is called Western Pacific Steam Locomotivies, Passenger Trains and Cars. Both excellent books but they may be abit rare. I hope this helps. I am a big WP fan and I try to get everything on the WP I can. Good Luck, Shannon WP LIVES
There are several great books on the Western Pacific. I have Western Pacific Color Pictorials 1 & 2 which has a lot of photos and lists of locos and what happened to them after the UP merger. If you're looking for steam rosters, there's a new book out, I think it's called Western Pacific Steam. I think it's published by the NMRA.
Sean, for online content, have a look at this site. There's a few links which may provide what you are looking for. http://www.oz.net/~samh/frrs/rrlinks/
Try photoswest for a huge selection of photos: http://photoswest.org:8080/cgi-bin/cw_cgi?getBasicTerms+22977 Type in "western pacific" to the searcher. Zillions of pictures, and you can send for prints...
Unfortunately if you are planning to model the WP two of their mainstay diesels have never been done in N-Scale the U23 and U30 B. Though both of these have been produced in HO the U23 by Atlas, the “N-Gods” have decreed that no new U-Boats shall be produced in N-Scale. Neigh even the Kato U30c shall pass from man’s memory so long between releases will it be.
Try Utahrails.net they have rosters for all of Utah railway and Wesern Pacific. Also links to photos.
