Another conversion from VHS is this short visit to Amington, near Tamworth on our West Coast London-Scotland main line, back in 1992. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMXpHVF-G-Q"]YouTube - WCML Rail Action at Amington 1992[/ame]
Wonderful viewing, Alan, thank you. I am so envious of UK rail transportation, and so frustrated with ours.
Wow! My home state of Oregon is roughly the same size as the UK (98,466 sq mi (255,026 km²) VS. 94, 526 mi (244,820 km²)) and I can only faintly imagine what it would be to have that kind of mainline running. We don't even have any real DOUBLE mainline, much less quadruple. This is great, Alan. I love seeing your European films and photos on this site! Adam
The trains were almost continuous during my visit, but there are even more trains along there now, and running faster. The ones shown were about 100mph maximum, now the tilting Pendolinos run at 125mph.
