Hmm pop another tape in the old 8 track or maybe on the reel to reel. Never said I was technologically advanced, still firmly rooted in the 50s.

Thanks for the help. I finally went digging in the other posts and found a discussion thread about the same issue. Still took me five minutes of studying the top of the message box to spot it.

Now if I can just figure out the best setting for this Kodak digital for my workbench photos I'll be in tall cotton.

    Hi!

Here's a bit of trivia for ya! Ever wonder why the back porch on passenger cars went out of style? It seems that every time someone flushed the toilet and dumped the load onto the tracks, it would get caught up in the air pulled along with the train. If the train was going fast enough, the effluvia would get sucked up at the end of the train, and entertain the guests on the rear platform! Euuuu!

So could pieces of ballast, twigs, leaves, paper, discarded tin cans, etc., that might injure passengers. Since the observation platform was usually part of a lounge car, there was always the possibility of a drunk passenger taking a header, too. Railroad office cars still have rear platforms but almost every road has a rule "No one on the rear platform while the car is in motion". :cat:

Back in the early 80s we took a circle from Dallas to SA to LA to SF to Denver to Chicago and back. Coming over Sherman Hill I was able to ride in the vestibule, hanging out of the dutch door. Unfortunately, one of the Superliner cars up forward had a retention problem with it's holding tanks.

    Probably wouldn't do it again.

Interesting to note, when the Coast Starlight went over Tehachapi Loop, people were out on the rear platform.

And whose car was it on the rear of the train? Was it an Amtrak office car or a private car? I was referring to CSXT's and CR's office cars, the only ones I've ever ridden in. :cat:
