I saw a partial FREIGHT rain com e through towen the consist: 1 gondola (CSX) 1 50' railbox Car 5 RAIX Tankcars 1 odd Ball 1 RAIX tank car the problem is I didn't get a picture of the odd ball. It looked like a 40' boxcar body was cut to 30', added with windows and doors, and had some odd fixtures on it. It was painted orange with black frame and black roof. It was letters "RCX 701" and in corporate lettering. "ASPLUNDH" on the side. I'm assuming by the tanks cars, and the odd car in the middle(and the name) it is a train used to spray pesticides on weeds.
Hey Pat, That was a "weird sighting"! As you probably know, "ASPLUNDH" is a common tree removal comapny around the Carolinas (and maybe beyond) so you are probably correct to assume that this dedicated train was on a mission for brush/vegetation/tree removal. Harold
They used to keep an ASPLUNDH train on a siding here in Auburn,CA. I believe you're right about the weed abatement use but can't back that up.
I weas pretty sure that was what is was. I've seen al lot of ASPLUNDH trucks and stuff here so it's not just in the carolinas.
