    Pete:

I have a Walthers kitbash with an Atlas turntable as a drive that I never hooked up to the JJJ&E...

I've been researching the CMR turntable for about one year and finally decided to build it....

    I started it this morning.....

It will take 16-18 hours to build as I was told when I ordered it..

    I'm approaching the 2 1/2 -3 hour mark now..

I will post the description and pictures later tonight of "the Beginnining"....

Stay cool and run steam...... [IMG]

    I accomplished the following:

Ascertained that the tools I ordered for track laying will be delivered on 10/19, a scant 17 days from date of order (see related post thread).

Broke in my two MP Pacifics for about 12 hours. One is as quiet as a purring cat after a bowl of milk and the other is as quiet as a cat that just got it's tail caught in a wringer.

Broke in my second Bachmann Spectrum Consolidation with about 6 hours of very slow speed running.

Called LHS for arrival of MT 2004 couplers for above, which have not arrived for a while, now.

Repainted Cornerstone brickwork Tuscan Red and will weather same tonight after second coat of Warm White to simulate aged concrete.

Well, we accomplished things, but not as planned--this is a hobby, after all.

Finishing the arbor tired me out because I was working in spots constricted by bushes and cacti--prickly pear cacti have quite long spikes--I got one in the butt, ouchie! So we did easy jobs inside on the RR.

We got University Town planned, laid up, detailed and planted. Jeanne detailed the seven buildings with interiors and signs, and weathered them lightly.

We also got the remaining three buildings on Washington Street (Downtown) detailed and planted. While she was doing the buildings, I got four crossings done with signs and gates, and fixed some of the nits like curling matte board sidewalks.

We actually ran some trains on portions of the layout that were clean enough to run.
