We are trying to gain momentum with the rollby topic so I thought I'd kick this one off for the week. This roll by is of one of the cement unit trains that runs between the cement works and limstone plant.
Most of the weathering was with chalks and dullcote. Looking forward to seeing an increase in rollbys this weekend, get your cameras out and start shooting
In 1925, the Texas & New Orleans Railroad inaugurated a new high-speed non-stop daylight train between Dallas and Houston. The train was christened the Sunbeam and was composed of all heavyweight steel cars. Eleven years later the train was upgraded to two trainsets of all new lightweight cars from the same order placed with Pullman by the Southern Pacific to equip the brand new Daylight trains in California. The cars shared the same paint scheme as the Daylight cars. For power, the T&NO rebuilt three Pacific type locomotves that were originally built for the SP in 1913 as P-6 class locomotives. The modernized, streamlined locomotives were given the new designation as P-14s. ZOOM One of the locomotives and one of two heavyweight baggage/RPO cars that were painted in Daylight colors and added to the trains before WWII. ZOOM Full Baggage and Chair Car. ZOOM Articulated Chair Car. ZOOM Parlor Car and Diner Lounge Observation Car. [ January 27, 2006, 07:15 PM: Message edited by: r_i_straw ]
Beautiful train Russell. Great chair car. I have seen a few kitbashed, but I think most of them are brass. Colonel: Very nice Alton and Southern paint job. Nice weathering, too! Two SD40s outbound on a local to pick up 55 empty grain cars on the return. [ January 27, 2006, 07:56 PM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
Oops! Looks like SSW didn't have any SD40s. Guess there is a repaint coming up! [ January 27, 2006, 08:07 PM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
Flash, the SP SD40 #7342 is Awesome. All of you guys have done a great job. Since I don't have my layout up yet, the roll by I caught up with starts with picture 11 on page 46 of my Railimages album: http://www.railimages.com/gallery/Ron-Harris-album?page=46 The couple pics before and after are the two other trains I caught on Thursday as well.
Here's my rollby contribution... First, I had to do a little switching to make up the rollby train... Ready to roll... -Jeff
