Blasting past the Batquitos Lagoon. LaCosta (Carlsbad) North County (San Diego) California
A few weeks ago, we were headed west, when this came by going east. I was able to stop right on the highway, as we were the lone vehicle, and grabbed this view of Pend Oreille Valley RR GP10 #8310. Just east of Priest River, Idaho:
Old box car in Skagway, Alaska.
Great (lucky?) catch, Ken!
Ken, when you are able to get out you get some great photos.
Mike- Yes. It was pure luck. All of sudden there was a headlight, and we were able to simply stop in the middle of the highway. There was no place to pull off, or even turn around for several miles the direction we were traveling. I thought he'd be holding in Priest River, as about a mile behind us there was track equipment working, and no nearby siding.
Thank you, Jim. I appreciate your kind comments!
Here is one of the tunnels that NS make taller for the double stacks on the Pokey in West Virginia.
Interesting how they just hacked away the portal.
Jackhammers are such neat things to play with. LOL
It is an interesting variant on what I've seen before, where they simply cut notches for the corners (so the portal ends up looking like it has ears). Neat to see!
Same engine that pulls the 4th of July rail fan and again in October on the weekends out of Kettle Falls WA .
Isn't it still Ione to Metaline Falls?
I'm still trying to find out who actually owns the depot at Metaline Falls. Is it the Lions Club? Or the Port?
Yes I stand corrected .. Ione to Metlline Falls ...good ? , not sure but maybe can find out ..
Not sure about a depot in Metilline Falls where they do the run around on the old cement factory siding ...
This just in :
Lions Club owns the building where you pick up your tickets and has the souveneer shop. The large very old actual depot across the parking lot is privately owned, not sure of the persons name.
See the reply from the Lions group I got via email ..
Yes there is one in Metaline Falls as well. It is also very old. We use it on Labor Day weekend to sell tickets and souveneers out of. And yes, the 1st ones I describedd are in Ione. Dick
That first description did sound like Ione. Glad he clarified it for you.
Does the Lions Club also own Metaline Falls depot? Or just have a use agreement with the Port?
