The Hawaiian Railway Society runs a train from roughly Ewa, through the Ko'Olina resort area and on to the beach near the power plant. On the way back, it stops for Icecream in Ko'Olina This was our train. Since I and the boys were dropped off and the Disney resort is across the street. We just got off here. Interesting history of the area that was once Sisel and Sugar cane fields. It's the leeward side. So much drier than you might expect for Hawaii.
Where is Waldeaux? Last week in Bordeaux, France. They just completed the new TGV service into Bordeaux this year. I was not trackside but was able to see one coming into town from a ways off. I managed to get a glimpse of it flashing through the landscape.
Amtrak's northbound Silver Star was running 11 Hours late on Thursday. I'm not sure what caused the delay, but seeing the train in daylight was a rare treat. Here it is advancing through the afternoon drizzle at Lugoff, SC on the former SAL main.
Gallipolis,Ohio is starting a railroad museum. The line used to be the C&O Hocking Valley, They got this caboose and rebuilding a freight house in town by the old row This is the freight house they are rebuilding. Curtis
A fine photo Yoho -- looks like fun. On vacation, my in-laws bought a nice softcover book for me that had good photos and information on the U.S. Navy's railroad on Oahu that once served the U.S. Navy base at Pearl Harbor. It was 3 FT Gauge, though I think there might have been some standard gauge/dual gauge lines laid for cranes. I knew nothing about these lines and greatly enjoyed the book.
Covered hoppers at the port of La Rochelle, France. Hard to get a good shot from the window of a bus.
Clicked "Like", but knowing what we are experiencing here, I sure don't like the conditions. This is now supposedly the worst fire season in Montana recorded history. Even worse, mostly caused by lightning, not humans. In my area, we had plenty of winter snows and moisture. Had rain well into the start of summer. Not even setting any records for heat. In fact, last night was once again chilly. But the winds just suck it all dry so fast it is amazing.
Is this along what was once known as the Hocking Valley RR, or predecessor Columbus, Hocking Valley & Toledo?
No guys, that's 3'. During 2nd World War that network was at its apex and four K27-class 2-8-2s were running on that network. Dom
Lu Lucky you. Harder and harder to see any freight equipment, nor even say a moving freight train here in France nowadays. Dom
