I don't know really what Begin/End 171 means, if I talk to the conductor again I may ask him what it means.
I heard this on my scanner Thursday. "Tell Jerry (the conductor) I'm going to the store to get some hornet spray." I don't think I would want to throw a switch when there's a hornet nest there! :uhoh:
How about an interesting building? This is a "one day depot". The BN opened a new route via Flathead Tunnel (Montana) when Libby Dam was built. That new transcontinental main is in front of the building, which is at Stryker. The old track shows behind and the original GN depot was up that line to the left. BN opened this office on dedication day and then closed it immediately the next. Pulled the job off and that operator never even copied an order.

I'm so glad that even though I dropped the ball, this thread lives on. It's Indian Summer 2006 in South Bend Indiana. I'd been living on the West coast for 4 years and was back on an odd trip without the wife. So I took my dad's car and made the most of it.
