Not quite what one usually expects to show up at the Roseville Locomotive shops on a Thursday evening.

Only running unit is the UP GEVO shoving them in.
    That's a BNSF Tier 4 with the A1A trucks in between the 2 Dash9s

While driving up to Oklahoma on Wednesday I saw this old trooper behind a grain elevator in north Texas near Valley View off of I 35.

In what state is Perry and what railroad? Love the old depots.

We've had crapy weather the last two days, but was able to catch this BNSF worm train lead by BNSF 8166 heading west to FtWorth coming through our little town:

Russ, you were North just up the road from me about 15mi when you came through. Great catch. That's a great elevator that would make a good model for sure. That BNSF line sees lots of use (we get about 12-15 trains a day average) so just North if there there are several good posts to get some wide open shots.

Also got down to Carrollton yesterday and got an ok shot of the DGNO in their yard and the old Carrollton station just across the street. [IMG][IMG]

Yeah, just north of the elevator I caught this "bare table" heading south.

Never have seen stacks modified that way. Must be a reason, due to plant structures.

Boxcab, I lived in Carrollton in the 70's and it was MP mainline there with a connection to Dallas and the MKT. I'm sure you're WAY more knowledgeable about the depots origins than I am. It was the DGNO office for a short time, and now is just a decoration. Now it's the BNSF mainline that runs just to the north and the tracks directly in front of it are DGNO.

Yeah, I guess they wanted to blow the exhaust away from the grain elevators. Don't like the extra flavor it would impart on the grain.

EMD 567 engines are also notorious for throwing oodles of sparks out the exhaust pipe (I once saw a photo of the exhaust of a GP7 inside a tunnel... pretty impressive ).

    I wonder what Alco-smoked grain tastes like?:D
