I started and finished wiring the entire layout this weekend. I think I soldered over 350 different joints, spade lugs, power feeds and I am tired!

I tested each new power district once it was wired and everything went smoothly. The reverse loop works well. The SD 70 seems to work well on this layout with no derailment problems. It happens to be my only loco at this point. The Bethgon coal porters are nice, but they look brand new as they are.

I realized tonight that most of my rolling stock I have acquired over the past year doesn't have the right type of couplers. Mostly the Atlas cars are the problem. Everything else is ok with the MTL couplers. I am confused about what to order from MTL to fix these cars with the wrong coupler types. Should I just purchase the MTL truck and coupler combo? Like 489-1010 in the Walther's catalog?

Anyway, it was nice to see the loco navigate the line with the full load of cars that I do have with the correct couplers. The metal trucks on the Bethgon cars are nice. I wish all of my rolling stock had metal trucks. I guess I could do this as stated above. It was fun to play with the train rather than work for a change.

None of the track is glued down yet, but I guess this will come in time. Here are a few pics:

Nice, marathon session, I would suppose, Hutch. Looks neat, and a great plan.

I didn't get much done this weekend, as I was bothered by a cold and decided to sleep as much as possible. It seems to have worked.

    Nice layout Hutch. Looking good.

I managed to get all the screws in my backdrop countersunk, I have also mudded and taped the joints as well as filled in the screw holes. I sanded and applied the second coat of mud as well.

I seem to have moved from armchair modelling to desktop modelling. I spent my weekend doing homework. so far I have 0 progress on layout stuff. :(

I do enjoy seeing all the updates people post on here though, so keep em coming.
