This is an HO model of the SP/MP Union Depot in Hearne, Texas that I built for a friend's layout.

    The prototype as a museum.

The prototype back in the early 1920s. It had a Harvey House and freight depot as part of the complex.

I thought that Harvey Houses were a Santa Fe only thing...

That's exceptional work Russell -- very cool in every way. Thanks for the vintage prototype photo too -- helps to set the stage with an image of what it looked like in its prime. (y)

Most of them were on the Santa Fe but Fred Harvey did contract for a few restaurants with other railroads, notably the Kansas & Pacific, Frisco, Gulf Colorado & Santa Fe as well as a few others.

Good morning from mostly cloudy, hot and humid Northeast Ohio!

Completed an Atlas (Ex-Branchline) 40' 1944 AAR Boxcar kit using the 4/4 Ends and Diagonal Panel Roof parts of the kit. Painted with a mixture of Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Roof Brown to get the ATSF Mineral Red. Car was lettered with Mask Island Decals. This boxcar was used in general service.

Proto 2000 PS 4427 Hi Side Covered Hopper Kit, substituted a Plano Etched Metal Roofwalk for the plastic one that comes with the kit. Painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray Paint and lettered with Oddballs Decals. One of many covered hoppers purchased by the MP and subsidiaries for grain service in the midwest.

The background of the car pictures are a large Plastic Pellet Plant I am building for the club layout, hope to have it finished next week.

    Thanks for looking!

Here is a photo of my stockyard set on the layout. The next project can be seen to the right. The cement/asphalt plant complex and Schmelly Meats Company.

You can see some of the crew engaged in deep thoughtful discussion. This was work day ? ? ?

Here are some photos I took yesterday at my model railroad club in Livingston, MT. I finally got my F7B unit back from Walthers. They received it on June 4th. With the grades on the club layout, power is needed to pull a decent size train.

After making up the train in the east subdivision yard, started climbing the grade.

Here's the train after passing from on room into the main room for the layout.

The Gardiner part of the layout was the best place to get a photo of the entire train. I could have pulled more cars, but had to keep the amount down to the length of the passing sidings.

Here is my Rapido RDC leaving the main part of the layout and heading to the east subdivision.

Here the freight had to pull into the passing siding to let the RDC pass. It was running in the opposite direction that we normally run. Almost had a wreck.

Sarah's Valley Hospital. It was a door company before with a rail spur, then the company donated the building to the town, who made it a much-needed hospital. A part of the abandoned spur can be seen to the left in the second photo.

D&RGW scale test car, X450. Used to calibrate scales across the sustem so shippers and consignees are paid and charged correctly.
These cars were to be handled on the end of a train, in front of the caboose. Speed restriction of 35 MPH was impossed.

So, perhaps this is a young Jim Ozment, relaxing before doing a track inspection. Jim worked for the D&RGW for many years.
