Looks like you been busy Ryan.. How about glazing for the windows? I had wondered about that aspect of the 3D printed models. I need to get with you and get some stuff ordered to build a caboose out of the stuff you have designed. Just cant decide on which one to build. DRGW/SLSF man we got choices!!

I will begin work on the DRGW 01500-01514 series cabooses in the next week, so those bodies will soon be an option, too. I currently have one of the 01515-01524 series cabooses under construction here:

    http://www.pbase.com/mecrharris/drgw_1518

I'm not a Rio Grande modeler per se, but they did show up from time to time on the Coleto Creek coal trains that came through Fort Worth from Colorado, so I had to have one.

I also have the underframe for SLSF 1200 started, but I haven't ordered any of the body parts yet. That one's going to be fun. Do you know which decals are appropriate for it?

Glazing... I was thinking about printing out a sheet of paper with the window outlines on it that I could tape down some clear sheet plastic over it then cut out the windows to fit. If it's effective, I can make such a sheet available for download that way everyone could cut out windows to fit for these cabooses.

Candy wrote, "I have an RS1, RS2 and an RS11. Gets kind of smokey around here".

The Yreka Western had a MRS-1. I hated to operate that beast. It had mechanical problems that might get us to our destination, and back. It quit one day as we were crossing the Shasta River bridge and the passengers ended up having to walk a couple of hundred yards across a muddy, cow-poop infested field to get to the highway so we could ferry them back to the station.
Another thing was, and you are right about this, Candy ... it not only smoked badly, but the breather pipe was right under the cab at the engineers window. Boy did it stink! I was happy, but also sad to see it scrapped.

ALCO just could never get away from designing their nearly century old steam heritage into their diesels...pity. :(
