An oldie from back before I had a digital camera. An Arnold Rapido Pacific that I made to resemble an ATSF prototype.

Good morning from mostly cloudy and rainy Northeast Ohio!

Finished another Intermountain PS1 40' Boxcar Kit, painted with Scalecoat II ATSF Red and lettered with decals from the Ann Arbor Historical Society. Car was in paper service from Wisconsin to points all over the map. Many of these cars went east on the car ferry to the Ann Arbor in Frankfort, MI. Car was built in 1950 with the standard boxcar red and black paint, then repainted in 1962 with the bright red paint scheme along with the Packers Football (three part decal).

The 5th Athearn ACF 4600CF Covered Hopper kit I have completed, painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals. Car was in use on the system hauling grain products mostly on the southern end of the system. Car was built new in 1973 for the DT&I replacing older lower capacity cars that were on lease.

Brought out an old picture I took on the Strongsville Club layout, PRR N1s 2-10-2 with a coal drag going up the hill with a string of coal hoppers, its normal life on the the PRR with the return trip hauling ore to the steel mills.

    Thanks for looking!

My latest acquisition. The new Athearn offering 2-8-0. It's a sweet slow beast!

Holiday weekend bonus photo - No train in this one, just a lonely bridge waiting for the next train. This bridge was built from a Central Valley kit. I like it when they have the year of construction on them as that helps to set the era of the layout. This line was built by the WP a few years earlier than 1918 but at least it's close.

That’s okay. I didn’t have a train in my photo either. We’re rebels!

Model railroading isn't only about trains. Trains run on tracks, across bridges, through towns, and switch industries.
Without all that, it's just around a Christmas Tree....boring. ;)

I started to wire up the yard today, I soldered all of the feeders and ran the main bus. I only got one set of tracks wired (the main) before I ran out of connectors.

Oh Man, memories of Rutland's milk trains between northern Vermont and New York City, interchanged with the New York Central Harlem Division every night at Chatham, NY. I used to see them every afternoon pounding up out of Bennington, VT on the Rut's Corkscrew Division behind a Consolidation on their way south. Sigh.

    " The summer of '89*..."

I got my first real six-string
    Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played it 'til my fingers bled
    Was the summer of '89

Me and some guys from school
Had a band and we tried real hard
    Jimmy quit, Jody got married
    I should've known we'd never get far
Oh, when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life

    Ain't no use in complainin'
When you've got a job to do
Spent my evenings down at the drive-in
And that's when I met you, yeah
    Standin' on your mama's porch
You told me that you'd wait forever

Oh, and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
    Oh, yeah

Back in the summer of '89, oh

    Man we were killin' time
    We were young and…

    Enjoy & Relax......
