The Ranger was the heavyweight train between Chicago and Houston/Galveston prior to the introduction of the Texas Chief. After that, the name was dropped and it just became #5 and #6.

A reasonably authentic Milwaukee Road freight from the mid-70s... even has a cut of empty hoppers heading back to the SP to be loaded with Chilean copper ore imported at the Port of Los Angeles.

Last Sunday I was at an operating session on a friends HO layout. I ran the Houston yard job switching industries downtown and making up passenger trains. Here is my switcher #77 with the parlor car to add to the consist for the afternoon Sunbeam for Dallas.

This is a depot that I built for the layout.

And another depot that I built.
