    Some cars finished this week!

Finished my third Anderson's converted Hopper to Covered Hopper, Tichy Kit painted with Green Tinted Model Master Silver Paint and lettered with Kit supplied decals.

This car was inspired by TBird1958 on the Atlas Rescue Forum, this is a Front Range Welded side 50' Boxcar, widened door opening for a 10' Plug Door on which I replaced the cast on rods with Evergreen Plastic Rods, Details West Extended Coupler Pocket, Plano X-over Platform, A-line Sill Steps and painted with Floquil BNSF Green then lettered with Modern Rails Decals.

Atlas Post 71 4650 CF Covered Hopper kit, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray then lettered with Islington Station Products Decals.

    Thanks for looking!

Did the kit come with that covering material? Or did you create it yourself? If the latter, how?

As you noted a short time back, the layout came down. So this is a past scene? What is forthcoming?

The color difference on the extension on the hopper is very striking.

The Tichy Car came with a casting from F&C that has the extension and tarp detail cast into it. F&C also supplied the decal that came with the kit. These cars were in captive service from Maumee, OH to the Toledo, OH Riverfront Elevators, a distance of about 12 miles. I used to see strings of these cars go by my house during the fall grain rush every year.

Beautiful work dti406! I have a soft spot for the SAL boxcar. I once worked at a paper mill and we called these "Green Hornets". Were excellent cars for paper loading with their plug doors.

Box, Not much left of this layout. Takes awhile to get it in my 2 garbage cans. Of all my layouts I think this was the best. Next I'm thinking of doing a 4'x6' table top layout in ultra-fine detail. It will be my last layout so I will get it right, trust me. Jim

Nice photo! The trees in foreground give the bridge a real sense of height.

I agree, but history has shown to be patient for Jim's new creation. ;)
