The sun only shines onto the Zalma Branch during this time of year when the sun is at the perfect angle to peek through a small basement window. I grabbed this shot as the dying rays hit the trees beside the Brownwood depot. It was gone moments later.
I love it. Brought to mind a photo I took a couple of years ago. Every November, one of the local model RR clubs in Houston sponsors a home layout tour. Our NTRAK club has set up for the tour for the last 10 years or so at the railroad museum in Rosenberg. The City of Rosenberg deeded over to the museum some adjoining property that had an old water works vehicle garage on it. The museum has re-purposes the building for class rooms and a large display area. The display room is non air conditioned so we leave the large south facing garage doors open for ventilation. The setting sun in the evening shines right in and lights up the front of the layout. I love the crisp shadows and natural lighting spectrum.
Thanks Russell! Josta, the reflecting light on that car roof and the randomly positioned blinds in the passenger car are the elements that make a photo stand out. Very nice.
Thanks, Boxcab. Actually it is a regular brass lamp post, rather than drilling new holes in the "concrete" platform and having to fill and patch the old holes to match, I just bent the lamp posts to clear the cars on the adjacent track. John
