OK, I finally have an addition. This module was gifted to me and I repainted, sceniced and laid new track. There was no power to the tracks so the loco light is not functional. We call this El Gato and is a 45 degree freemo module.
Here's My Espee... Sunset eclectic lashup inbound to Sunset Station, San Antonio. FP7A - PB1 - E7B - F7B - PA1
I had every intention of going this year, since it's so close to me. Wife was on board, everything was on track, but when it came time to register, she waffled!!!!
I spent today building a "study model" of a Bofors 40mm quad mount. I'd like to make a master so I could cast models for others interested in late WW II N-scale warships. (The 40mm quad was replaced by a dual 3 inch gun shortly after WW II.) I found this Bofors was probably too complicated to cast with my talents. The gun assembly was OK for casting, but the mount--it would have taken six or more castings to get it right. Now I've built one, the other three or four I need might be as easily built from scratch. Now, a dual 40 mm, which uses the same gun assembly, might be a better product. Pictures later.
Not much new on the Yuba River Sub--am anxiously awaiting a 'new' brass 2-8-8-2 which should arrive from Caboose Hobbies this Wednesday--a model of one of the Rio Grande's first 'big' Mallets--a 1916 3400 series. Until then, here's an older photo of one of my 3500 series 2-8-8-2's. It's a Proto, and --SURPRISE!--it's actually one HECKUVA strong hauler! Here she is still fresh out of the shops wrangling a heavy freight up Yuba Pass all by herself. Tom
Here's the image of a Bofors 40mm quad mount, with only one twin mounted. I'll build a second twin, as I'm not satisfied with the first one. I'm trying to figure out how to cast the mount. The twin gun assembly is an easy two-part mold. The rest I don't know. I haven't cleaned up the lower part of the mount yet. I'm doubting there's enough interest to offer these as a resin product, Compared to what's out there (mostly 1:192 which is undersized by more than expected, perhaps 40% by my measurement), this would be great for Navy modelers in 1:160 scale. Which universe is about 3. Nevertheless, it was fun, and I'll continue refining during today's Patriots game.
Flaggy flagman or Eye test A one evening project. I had no red LED available, so I used a white one and painted it. Wolfgang
Signs, signs, everywhere signs Been struggling for a few days to figure out how to make acceptable road signs. I spent all afternoon working on this scene. Painted the asphalt, striped it, landscaped, and after multiple attempts, cut out and built these signs:
This is looking better and better with each update! Something about this shot teases the need for a night scene with street lights along the bridge.
