I found an easy kit bash for the old Kato smooth side RPO baggage car to make it into something the Santa Fe had. I chopped off the baggage end and came up with a class of AC&F cars that the Santa Fe bought in 1957. No window modifications required. I suppose I could still add some stirrup foot steps yet.
The company pilot took some aerial photos along the line the other day. Here's one of the better shots.
Todd, this scene is looking good. I like the roads and proportion of structures to scenery and tracks. Keep the updates comming.
Todd, That is amazing. Definitely one of my favorites. Looks like the scenery "grew" around the structures, not like the structures were placed there. Seemless. That bridge is awesome too!
Did you ever see trees grewing up during winter time? Yes, it could be in model railroading... Here is Joba Pass with some more green: Ciao, Giovanni
And, as this does not look too exciting, it took HOURS to get this "bench" cleared off so I could paint it (hate the pink foam look) and get to laying track for the service area.
Orange grove by Wayne Lawson on the Belmont Shore Club, around 1997. Monolith Cement on the BSRR Club. This area is about 16 feet long; the model is 3/4 scale as it was otherwise just too large to fit. Dan Kamikubo built this structure. More Monolith Cement Black Widows pass the town of Davis on the BSRR. The structure immediately behind the first engine was built by Jerry Schamahorn and was originally on the first NTrak module ever made.
Nice work on this thread, wow! I poured a small river, a first for me. For the small slow stream I modeled, I used something called Garden Splendor Quick Water. Easy to mix, no smell, very inexpensive, and looks pretty good I think. It looks better in person without the harsh flash. The bottom of the river is rocky and moss covered, and the "wet" edges don't really look so "wet". Now to make some trees and start detailing.
Fantastic scenery!! can you post up some more pictures or a description of the layout, that is great! my best, Jan
